What it does

FFair_Force is the force feedback hardware layer of the FFair ecosystem. It is designed for custom simulator controls where the yoke, joystick or rudder pedals must react physically to aircraft state, airspeed, trim and autopilot behavior.

Real control feel

Applies variable resistance, damping and feedback effects so the control force changes with the simulated aircraft.

Custom cockpit hardware

Supports different motor, driver and encoder choices, from compact desktop controls to larger dual-yoke installations.

Multi-axis design

Intended for elevator, aileron and rudder force feedback, depending on the mechanical build and selected hardware.

Local calibration

The central unit includes display-based configuration and calibration workflows for direct hardware setup.

Main workflow

Build the mechanical control

Install the selected motors, encoders and drivers into a yoke, joystick or rudder pedal mechanism.

Wire the central box

Connect encoder, motor driver, trim, servo, gauge light and power lines following the wiring guide.

Calibrate the axes

Use the central display or remote gauge to verify direction, PWM mode, range, trim behavior and force response.

Run through FFair_Link

FFair_Force is now working through FFair_Link, so aircraft-specific behavior can be handled from the FFair profile layer for MSFS and X-Plane 12.

Integration

FFair_Force is moving to FFair_Link integration to keep the hardware compatible with all aircraft profiles in both supported simulators: Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane 12.

MSFS

Integration is handled through FFair_Link and simulator data available from the MSFS profile workflow.

X-Plane 12

Integration is handled through FFair_Link and X-Plane 12 data/command profiles.

Standard joystick

The control unit is designed to be detected by Windows as a standard joystick while force behavior is managed by the FFair system.

Aircraft profiles

Aircraft-specific force, trim and autopilot behavior can be organized through simulator profiles instead of fixed firmware-only logic.

Hardware platform

Controller

Teensy 4.1 based central control unit for fast force control, closed-loop processing and PID behavior.

Motor drivers

Designed around configurable driver support, including high-current DC motor driver setups.

Encoders

Position feedback is provided by encoders so the control loop can track physical movement accurately.

Display

Main unit or remote gauge display support for setup, testing and cockpit panel integration.
